Here at Bert Smith BMW we saw images of something on the frozen landscape of Northern Sweden that warmed our hearts. No, it wasn't a cute furry animal, rather the next-generation BMW 7 Series doing some winter weather testing.
As you might expect, for a model set to be released in the distant future, it was heavily camouflaged in black and white. Also, many parts on this prototype were non-production, which doesn't give us too many clues. The vehicle, code named G11, does show us that the body seems to be a bit slimmer, however, particularly at the back end. This continues a trend of other new BMW models currently being refreshed.
We also know that the new BMW 7 Series will utilize carbon fiber, aluminum, and steel in its construction. What does that mean? For starters, a lighter ride, improved performance, handling, and efficiency. It's also believed that the 7 Series will have two wheelbase lengths, and a variety of engine options like a straight-six, V8, and V12 turbocharged powertrain, plus hybrid and diesel units. There could even be an M Performance edition, too.
Either way, it has us pretty excited. When more news about the BMW 7 Series emerges, we'll be sure to let you know here on the Bert Smith BMW blog.
In the meantime, stop in to 3800 34th Street North Saint Petersburg, FL, where we'd be happy to answer any questions you might have, and detail new BMW models that interest you.
