While the differences between the sixth generation and all-new seventh generation BMW 5 Series models are subtle, they make a world of difference in overall feel. And while both boast styling cues like angel-eye headlamps, the double kidney grille, and Hofmiester kink, their unique treatments in each version help set these generations apart.

The video above offers a rare look at the two cars side by side. Right away, you’ll notice the 2017 5 Series’ headlamps and grille are slightly different. In profile, the roof tapers slightly higher in the new model, and the rear deck-lid and tail lights also have different stylings. While the two cars don’t look wildly different, this evolutionary approach has made quite a difference in the driving experience and curb appeal!
