We'll have to wait a little bit before we see it in our Saint Petersburg, FL showroom, but after hearing about the worldwide debut of the new BMW i3, we know that the wait, though tough, will be entirely worthwhile.

The i3 is the Bavarian automaker's all-new electric car, and it's expected to enter the U.S. market in 2014 during the second quarter. The i3 is the first in the new I sub-brand.

The i3 is built on an all-electric drive system which has its benefits over conversion vehicles. This has its benefits since it doesn't have the same constraints as a pre-existing vehicle design since the development of the vehicle's development is dependent more of the characteristics designed into the vehicle.

Additionally, BMW specifically designed the LifeDrive architecture concept for the i3, and it is made up of two modules: the Life Module and the Drive Module. The Life Module is the very first mass produced Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic passenger cell in the auto business, and it is 30 percent lighter than aluminum. The Drive Module has a 22-kWh lithium-ion battery, electric train, 5-link rears suspension system, MacPherson strut, and crash and structural components.

The interior consists of all high quality renewable sources and recycled materials; it has the Next Premium interior which is a mix of sustainable resources with the same luxury feel found in other familiar favorites like the BMW 5 Series Sedan.

As we mentioned earlier, we will have to wait until 2014 until we can offer it to our loyal and potential customers. In the meantime, we invite you to visit us here in Bert Smith BMW where we have several impressive new BMW models here in the showroom. It would be our pleasure to help you pick out the model that will fit into your lifestyle perfectly.
