The 2012 BMW ActiveHybrid 5 will arrive at BMW Smith BMW this spring, so we thought we'd let you know the price of this luxurious vehicle. The new hybrid will start at $61,845, including a $895 destination and handling fee.  The pricing was announced January 9, 2012 at the Detroit Auto Show.

This price comes in at about eight grand more than the current BMW 535i, due to the fact that it comes with a powerful 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder in-line engine that produces 335 horsepower when it's combined with a 55 hp electric motor. This means the new hybrid can move from zero-to-sixty in under six seconds (5.6 to be precise). The lithium-ion battery pack also holds enough power to carry the ActiveHybrid 5 2.5 miles, at an average of 22 mph (though it can reach speeds up to 37 mph), on electricity alone- which is pretty remarkable for a hybrid.

The new BMW hybrid also includes an electric drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Controlled energy management means that the driver will only use as much energy as is wanted/needed. Like other BMW vehicles, it features sleek, classy styling and a well-appointed interior.
