BMW seems to be developing a perennial habit of releasing Special Edition M3 cars. Last year, it was the Frozen Gray. This year, it's a leaner, meaner Frozen Black.

As the name suggests, the BMW Frozen Black Edition M3 is finished in a don't-mess-with-me urbanite shade of matte black. Punching up its devilish good looks with a sense of panache are contrasting high-gloss kidney grilles, side-grill elements, and exhaust tail pipe, Novillo leather seats accented in red stitching, bright-red brake calipers, and Black M3 GTS wheels with 19" high-performance summer tires.

If you're among the critics of the BMW Frozen Gray Edition M3, who said who said it looked too friendly, you're definitely in for a treat. There's nothing friendly about the appearance of this car. Yet, as mean as it looks, it goes the extra mile to indulge drivers in a suite of special features.

Due to high global demand, the U.S. has been allotted a mere 20 units of the BMW Frozen Black Edition M3, which officially launched June 16.  Accordingly, BMW opened up a reservation list, promising 19 of the 20 Frozen Black Edition M3 coupes for delivery by the end of the month. Worldwide production for the special-edition M3 will end shortly thereafter, in late July. Base cost is $79,650, not including Destination and Handling charges.

What about 20thcar? Thanks for reminding us.  BMW North America is planning to hold it and maybe sell it at a later date. The details on that one are still a little vague.
