Viewers of the new film, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol will see more than fast-paced action; they'll also see several new BMW vehicles, including the BMW 650i coupe and convertible models, the BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle, and a new concept car, the BMW i8 Concept, which was first showcased at the IAA in 2009.

BMW has rolled out an entire campaign surrounding the film appearances, including a "BMW Mission to Drive Sales Event," which allows buyers to get a credit of up to $2,500. Trudy Hardy, Manager of Marketing, Communications, and Consumer Events at BMW of North America explains the importance of the BMW film appearances, stating, "The film allows us a wonderful opportunity to showcase not only BMW's vision for future vehicles but to highlight some of the newest and most popular cars in our current fleet," and LeeAnne Stables of Paramount Pictures adds, "BMW provided an unprecedented level of technological support to our production team while shooting the film around the world. Our collaboration continued through development of their innovative global marketing campaign themed to the film which will lend incredible support to the studio effort."1 In other words, both brands will support each other in their successes.

The campaign will consist of print, television, and online ads, as well as dealer activation. There were also 200 promotional advance screenings of the movie, which premiered of December 21, 2011. The "self-destructing" offers will end January 2, 2012.
