As we approach the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, you can bet that BMW will be keeping a tight lid on just about everything that they plan to unveil at the... oh wait, never mind. As it turns out the BMW i3 is having a hard time staying away from the general public's curious eye, and an eager onlooker recently caught the highly anticipated electric vehicle cruising down Wacker Drive.

What was the BMW i3 doing in Chicago anyway? Well, when you think about it, the streets of a fast paced city like Chicago really do make a nice home for the i3. It is, after all, a pure electric vehicle, meant for city driving.

Oh, wait... you probably mean, what was it doing in Chicago before its official unveiling? While BMW has officially said what they were doing with the i3, the Youtube video that has made its way across the web shows the i3 following a camera crane mounted truck. If Bert Smith BMW had to guess, we'd say they were most likely filming a promotional video for the full unveiling of the i3, which is likely to happen at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

All we know is that the i3 looked good driving through the streets of Chicago, and it is certainly something we wouldn't mind seeing in a higher quality format in the near future. Unfortunately, we weren't able to garner any new details on the i3 based on this one video. We already know that it is expected to feature a 170-horsepower, electric engine, a max torque output of 184 lbs.-ft., and a driving range of 80-100 miles per charge.

While we would have liked to have been able to cement some of these facts, we're not too far away from the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, where BMW is set to fully unveil the i3 to the world. In the mean time, you can learn more about the new BMW models that we carry at 3800 34th Street North Saint Petersburg, FL by checking out our inventory and showroom pages online.
